Charter industry update
Martinique and Guadalupe
In order to provide a competitive edge to Martinique and Guadalupe as charter destinations in a region where other countries do not tax short-term charters, France has passed legislation (Article 295-7° of the French Tax Code) exempting the short-term hire of yachts from VAT if compliant with the following:
• the charter starts from Martinique or Guadeloupe
• the yacht LOA is over 24m
• the yacht is less than 3,000 GRT
• the charter goes outside French territorial waters and lasts less than 90 days
